Judged: what are we doing?

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Mark 2:17

How has Christianity, the church, and the followers of Jesus offended you the most?  I am curious to hear how religion (Christianity in specific) has failed you the most.

One Response to Judged: what are we doing?

  1. Hmm…what a great and scary question! Honest. The kind of thing we don’t want to talk about, but we need too. As a disclaimer, the church has done so much more good and I have hurt the church too.

Anyway, being misunderstood and misjudged by those that I have profound love and respect for. Intuitively, it seems that those worthy of the most trust would be the last people to hold inaccurate and negative views.
When my motives have been doubted, when I’ve been seen for who I was, when I haven’t got the benefit of the doubt, when criticism has been elevated over encouragement…ouch.

    Skepticism isn’t discernment.
    Gossip doesn’t accomplish God’s will.
I’m not the sum of my mistakes.

…yet God is redeeming this. I’m seeing why I am to put more stock in what God thinks, let Him, not imperfection define me. This contrast helps me remember that He will never do me wrong.
